Although acid reflux can be controlled through the means of medical treatments and appropriate diet, some people who suffer from severe forms of the condition may require acid reflux surgery. Acid reflux has a recidivating character and surgery is the best means of fully overcoming the condition. There are several medical procedures in acid reflux surgery and the most effective ones are Laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, also known as Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication and Intraluminal Endoscopic surgery. These surgical procedures are both considered to be safe and patients usually recover quickly after the operation. Acid reflux (gastro-esophageal reflux disease) is a physiological condition that usually occurs due to inappropriate activity of the lower esophageal sphincter (muscular valve that connects the esophagus to the stomach), allowing the content of the stomach to reflux into the esophagus and throat. In normal conditions, the esophageal lower sphincter should be able to prevent the regurgitation of the stomach acids into the esophagus. The sphincter normally acts like a barrier between the stomach and the esophagus, sealing the walls of the esophagus in order to protect the organ from the digestive fluids produced by the stomach. However, due to abnormal pressure at the lower end of esophagus, weakness of the esophageal lower sphincter, abnormal positioning of the esophagus inside the body or inconstant muscular contractions of the sphincter, the digestive fluids produced by the stomach are allowed to enter into the esophagus and the throat. Acid reflux surgery can correct the actual causes of the condition, normalizing the activity of the lower esophageal sphincter and therefore preventing the access of gastric acids to the superior levels of the esophagus. Acid reflux surgery involves simple medical procedures and it provides permanent results for people who are constantly affected by the condition. Acid reflux surgery is recommended for people with chronic forms of acid reflux, but it is also suitable for other patients with less serious forms of the condition. The most common form of acid reflux surgery is fundoplication. This form of acid reflux surgery involves tightening the walls of the esophagus in the region adjacent to the stomach, thus increasing the pressure near the lower esophageal sphincter. By increasing the pressure at the union point between the esophagus and stomach, acid reflux surgery prevents the content of the stomach from being regurgitated upwards, inside the esophagus and the throat. One other method used in acid reflux surgery involves tightening the esophageal valve. By doing so, the valve will be able to efficiently seal the esophagus, preventing the reflux of gastric acid inside it. Intraluminal endoscopic acid reflux surgery basically involves the same medical procedures, but performed through the means of an endoscope. This form of acid reflux surgery is very quick and its risks are minimal. The majority of patients recover rapidly after this form of acid reflux surgery and they usually don’t require post-operatory treatment. Thanks to medical advance and the multitude of modern treatments available these days, acid reflux surgery can be performed in a quick, safe and effective way.

Lower back pain symptoms and remedies
Pain or discomfort in the lower portion of our back and the spinal column is a common phenomenon and can be largely attributed to our changing lifestyles. Wrong posture or inadequate exercise is most often the cause of the pain in the lower spinal column. The treatment of such a pain can vary from a simple over the counter medicine to surgery depending on the severity and the cause. The pain is generally felt in the lumbar and the sacral region and can also affect other areas. A sprain in the muscles or the ligaments constituting the lower portion of the spine can be the most common cause of backache. Some of the other problems that involve pain in the lower back are disc degeneration due to arthritis or ageing, spondylitis, infections and tumors. In most of the cases the pain is localized in the lower back and vanishes after some time. However, it may even extend to the buttock or the leg on the affected side. In cases wherein the pain is persistent and increases with time or results in weakness in the foot or loss of bladder control - proper medical check up becomes essential. In some cases stiffness or persistent pain around the spine can disturb your sleep resulting in further problems like tiredness. Such problems can be rectified by the used of pillows designed to maintain our body posture and thus ensure proper sleep. The use of the wrong type of mattresses can also affect the body posture and result in back pain.

Best known ways to quit smoking
When you have finally come to see that your smoking habit has caused damage to your health, and wallet, and general well being, and you have decided that you would like to quit it is good to know that there are a lot of ways to quit smoking. Quitting smoking depends on many things. It can be fast, or slow, but one thing for sure is that quitting rely on your determination, as well as the help of others. Whatever method you try, you should be mentally prepared for the difficult period that follows your last cigarette. This difficult period is caused when the nicotine your body is addicted to is withdrawn from your body. Withdrawals occur when your body reacts to the lack of nicotine that it has become reliant on. The sudden impulse to give up smoking is known under the name of "cold turkey" and it is the result of a personal choice. Among the gradual ways to quit smoking may be enumerated the nicotine replacement therapy, the individual or group therapy, some modern and non-medical methods such as acupuncture, kabala practices and others but also physical exercises. It is incorrect to say that you are addicted to smoking because in fact you are addicted to nicotine and to the idea of a routine. The moment you try to provide the required quantity of nicotine to which your body was used while you were a smoker all you have to do in rest is to keep your hands busy and to work on your psyche. This way you'll certainly quit this vice. Acupuncture, hypnosis, laser therapy are some modern methods that come in the help of those who want to quit smoking. Due to the fact that they are rather modern tools their efficiency for a one hundred percent success has not been completely demonstrated. The first step towards a successful decision to give up smoking is to find a strong motivation. This must be sought in your own person, inside you. Nobody can convince you that you should quit your vice if you are not really determined that you actually want to do this. And also it depends on you which of the ways to quit smoking best suits you, if you think that you are able to do it on your own or to ask for assistance. If you want to choose the latter variant you have several alternatives. For best results font give up. If one way doesn't work for you, try another. Everyone is different, and so are the methods of smoking. What works well with one person wont necessarily work well with another.

Steroid profiles dissect steroid characters
There are stacks of anabolic steroids available on the market. Some anabolic steroids have different compositions and others have similar compositions, but different names. Additionally, there are some steroids available for veterinary usage. It really becomes tough and complicated to buy steroids. However, steroid profiles help to know & understand every steroid properly. Steroid profiles are biographical synopses on steroids. Steroid profiles are character dissections of steroids. They offer all useful information about characteristics and behavior of steroids. Steroid profiles are profiles of compositions, contents, and salts of synthetic steroids. Steroid profiles are outlines of all important steroid information, such as flavor, odor, effects, side effects, toxic levels, cautions, dosage directions, and steroid pictures. Steroid profiles are just like reviews of steroids. They help people to better know the steroids and their uses. Steroid profiles are either officially offered by the official makers of steroids or by the dealers of steroids or genuine drug stores. There is wide range of steroids including anabolic-androgenic steroid drugs, anti-estrogen drugs, and growth hormone & peptide drugs. Anabolic steroids help triggering growth
Anabolic steroids are defined as a group of synthetic derivatives of testosterone that promote muscle and bone growth. Anabolic steroids are androgenic steroids. These are the group of natural and synthetic steroid hormones that helps to promote cell growth and division, resulting in growth of several types of tissues, especially muscle and bone. Anabolic refers to muscle-building, androgenic refers to masculine growth, and Steroids refers to the class of drugs. Thus, androgenic anabolic steroids are man-made substances or drugs associated with the male sex hormones. Androgenic anabolic steroids are often referred to as AAS (androgenic anabolic steroids) in the medical terms. There are a number of androgenic anabolic steroids available on the market. Some of androgenic anabolic steroids include Anadrol ® (oxymetholone), Dianabol (methandrostenolone), Testosterone, Anadur (nandrolone hexylphenylpropionate), Anavar (oxandrolone), Andriol (testosterone undecanoate), AndroGel® (testosterone), Cheque Drops (mibolerone), and Danocrine (danozol). Androgenic anabolic steroids have anabolic properties and play great role in anabolism, which is the metabolic process that builds larger molecules from smaller ones. There are varying combinations of androgenic and anabolic properties in different androgenic anabolic steroids. Androgenic anabolic steroids are the drugs that are available legally only by prescription. These steroids are often used in treating conditions that occur due to abnormally low amounts of testosterone production in the body; some of the conditions include delayed puberty and some types of impotence. These steroids are also used treat uncontrolled weight loss in wasting diseases, such as AIDS and other diseases that result in loss of lean muscle mass. Androgenic anabolic steroids are often used by bodybuilders and athletes to enhance their muscle mass, strength, and stamina. Such usage of anabolic steroids for competitive purposes is legally banned. This abuse of anabolic steroids may lead to elevated cholesterol levels, liver disease, blood clots leading to heart attack or stroke, increased aggressiveness and irritability, and, in adolescents, permanent stunting of growth. Anabolic steroids were first discovered in the early 1930s. The distribution of anabolic steroids for nontherapeutic uses was illegalized under a 1988 federal law. Anabolic steroids joined the class of abused drugs as controlled substances in 1991. However, a precursor hormone called dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) that can help producing testosterone in the body is available as a dietary supplement without a prescription.

The new constant
There used to be a famous saying about the only things constant in this world are death and taxes. Maybe, that idea became well-known during the time when work and academic demands were still relatively uncomplicated. At present, however, another factor can be added to the initial list of constant things and that is stress. Anywhere in the world at any point in time, millions of people experience having a lot of stress. This feeling of inadequate capacity relative to the huge amount of demand usually results from activities related to work or academics. Some people experience this condition for just a short period of time while others are frequently bothered about it. The more frequent a person experiences being stressed, the more he or she is prone to having psychosomatic illnesses and long-term health diseases such as cancer and diabetes. Chronic stress can also lead to more debilitating psychological problems such as anxiety disorders and depression. This is the main reason why there is a current proliferation of medications that are said to provide stress relief. Though the more widely advertised stress relief product on television is Stress Tabs, it is said that the more commonly used medication to relieve stress is actually a supplement called Cortitrol. It contains an appropriate amount of theanin extract that can effectively alter the stress level of a person. Theanin is an amino acid usually obtained from tea which can pass through the blood-brain barrier and result to psychoactive reactions of relaxation and reduced mental and physical stress. The best feature of Cortitrol as a stress relief medicine is its being made of natural substances or the use of mostly organic or natural components. Because of this, little or no side effects can be expected from the intake of this supplement. This does not, however, limit or decrease the effectiveness of Cortitrol. It can still cause the same or better results compared to other stress relieving medications without the threatening, possible risks. Thus, this supplement has gained popularity among people who are usually lacking sleep such as call center agents and those that frequently undergo exercise. Lack of sleep and exercising are known to cause a rapid increase of cortisol level in a person's system which is why they are the ones most prone to having stress. A person free from the feelings of stressfulness are usually the ones that function well in their tasks or activities. They are also the individuals who have good relationships with their partners or families. Stress itself cannot be avoided with all the surrounding stressors. It is then an option or choice that can only be decided upon by the person himself or herself. They can either choose to easily get stressed or not to be so much affected by it. Furthermore, they can also choose to either take additional supplement or medication to aid them in eliminating or reducing stress and it's causes. Finally, the person has a remaining choice to either continue being bothered by the surrounding and persisting stressors or learn to deal with it through having a positive outlook toward the future.

Four great exercises to build your abs
If there is one standard that most of the world uses to determine whether a persons body is in good shape it is a well defined set of abdominal muscles. The "ab" muscles are a visual symbol of a person that takes care of their muscles and, by association, their body as a whole. Although the later is not necessarily true, a good set of abs is a desired physical attribute for most to aspire to. Which muscle groups to work Building your abs is an exercise in personal discipline. Building each of the main ab muscles takes a concentrated effort. From a lay persons point of view there are three main abdominal muscle groups: the upper, the lower and the oblique's. The upper ab muscles are often referred to as a "beer belly", the lower abs as a "pooch" and the oblique's as "love handles". As the exercises that help strengthen these muscle groups are discussed, it should be pointed out that none of the exercises reduces fat levels. That is left to a proper diet and other exercises. For a total fitness plan, you may want to speak with your doctor. Start with a pain free stretch Personal discipline is one thing but stopping before you begin, because of a pulled muscle, is another. Begin you ab routine with a nice even stretching of your core body. Relax and roll any muscle you have between your upper neck and your waist. This might best be described as keeping your feet planted shoulder width apart, bending your knees slightly and making a 360 degree circle with your upper body(waist up.) As you do this you will feel muscle groups pulling as you stretch them. DO THIS SLOWLY and you will quickly find the ab groups you will soon be working. Proper position and isolation In performing each of the following exercises, proper positioning is important for getting the maximum effect out of each movement. The one position you will need in each exercise is bent knees. This angle, in reference to the floor, will generally be 90 degrees unless otherwise stated. What this does is isolate the abs and prevent your legs from helping the abs in the exercise. The next important tip is to not overextend your range of motion. The common perception for most of these exercises is to cover the full range of motion from the starting point of the exercise to the end. You will only need to cover about 30 percent of that range for the best isolation of the abs. Strangely enough, you will find this lesser motion more difficult. The true ab exercise The ab exercise that is truly the basis of getting toned ab muscles is the basic "sit-up". People may call it a "crunch" or something else but the exercise that will get you the abs you want is a basic sit-up. It is how you do the sit-up that counts. Most people do them incorrectly. Perform a "crunch" by: * Laying on the floor and bending your knees to a 90 degree angle with the floor. Heels on the floor with feet at a 45 degree angle to the floor. Interlace your fingers behind your head. * Relax your arms and neck. * Smoothly raise your upper body to a 30 degree angle while bringing your knees to your chest. Return to the starting position slowly and smoothly, repeat. * Keep your arms and legs relaxed and move in a smooth motion for best results. Working up to a Side Bridge To be ready for the "side bridge" ab exercise you may need to work your biceps’ and your shoulders. For these exercises simply fill two or more 1 gallon jugs with water and begin curling them for 15 repetitions, this equals one set. Repeat and ad weight (more water or jugs.) For your shoulder use the same jugs and lift, with a slightly bent elbow, to the side. To perform the bridge: * Lay on your side with straight legs one on top of the other. Place your hand just under your body at shoulder. Press down on your hand and raise your body up until the arm is almost locked (don’t let it lock.) * Raise your opposite arm to perpendicular with your body and hold the position for a count of 10. Lower and repeat. Medicine Ball Plank This ab exercise resembles a "push-up" except that you are putting your hands on a medicine ball. You are also not lowering and raising yourself but holding one position for 15 counts. After you begin to feel stronger performing this exercise, work toward a 30 count for one set. Do three sets to start and make sure that your knees are slightly bent and not locked. Standing or seated twists This exercise is fairly straight forward. Stand with feet at shoulder width apart. Place your hands on your hips and twist smoothly from side to side. As you become more stretched and comfortable with the movement begin holding a weighted object like a medicine ball or water filled jugs with two hands at your center. Once you feel comfortable with this movement try the same movement while sitting on the floor with your feet off the ground and knees slightly bent. When this feels easier try bouncing the ball on each side while your feet remain off the ground.

The importance of balance in training
Athletes and fitness buffs have one thing in common—they encounter injuries every once in a while. Some may be minor ones, while others can be serious. For professional athletes, it could mean the end their career or their once-in-a-lifetime chance for fame and glory. Sport injuries are inevitable, but there things that can be done to lessen the development of these circumstances. One way of achieving this is by maintaining balance in training. Understanding the role of balance in training is essential to reducing injuries. Balance is the ability to maintain stability when stationary or moving through the body's coordinated actions of the sensory functions (eyes, ears, and the organs in the joints). It is the the basic skill needed in excel in every sport. From basketball to tennis to bowling --- changing one's center of gravity to match a particular move is a factor in maintainting efficiency in sports. In addition, many health and fitness experts add that ankle pain sprains, strains, spasms, and other sports injuries are not associated with strength, flexibility, and endurance. These injuries are often caused by improper balance and can be avoided by achieving slight adjustments of balance. Kinesthetic awareness, or the ability to know where the body parts are in a three-dimensional state is needed for every movement of the human body. This phenomenon explains the possibility of learning and improving onse's sense of balance. These things can be achieved by walking along walls, jumping, spinning, and climbing. In addition to these activities, balance can be achieved by engaging in drills called “tweaks” or repeating a sports exercise with eyes shut or shaking the head to intensify the effects of training. Changing the surface of one's balance workout is another effective “tweak.” Individuals may train in lumpy and rugged surface like grass to improve balance. Engaging in these activities for just a few minutes once or twice a day can vastly improve one's balance and reduce the development of injuries. Sports injuries are inevitable and there is nothing that can be done to prevent it from happening. But individuals who encounter these kinds of circumstances should not worry because there are a number of treatments that are availablemon treatments for injuries may include rest and physical therapy. The use of pain-relievers to treat the pain that are associated in injuries is also recommended by doctors. One of the pain relievers that has gained the approval of health professionals is Tramadol, a synthetic pain reliever that is scientifically proven to treat various kinds of pain. Tramadol side effects are milder compared to other pain relieving drugs out in the market. These side effects may include nausea, constipation, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and vomiting. Individuals who encounter injuries should not self-medicate and consult their doctors before taking this medicine or engaging in other activities. Though Tramadol side effects are mild and bearable, may not be used by individuals with certain health conditions and medical history. This drug may also interact with other drugs which may lead to development of more unwanted side effects. Taking medication for muscle pain relief and injury should always be the last resort. Everyone of all ages should keep a healthy balance system to avoid injuries and avoid problems due to joint pain, weakness, or dizziness. Keeping a healthy balance system is essential in improving overall health and well-being.

Tips for painless insurance selling
: Tips For Painless Insurance Selling Although it is a very profitable market, selling insurance can be like any other sales job if you don’t know what you’re doing. You might be all hyped up in the first few months of selling to your warm markets – when you’re still persuading your friends and family to take out an insurance policy. But if you’re like the next insurance agent, you might find it harder to close sales once you’re through with the warm markets and have to move on to the zone of the dreaded cold markets. But seasoned insurance agents will tell you that there actually ways to navigate the cold markets such that it becomes a less painful, and maybe even enjoyable, experience. The problem with most insurance agents is that they often take on a gather-gather approach to cold calling. Everyone and anyone is a sales lead, without careful thought and consideration of the prospect’s (a) actual need, and (b) capacity to pay. In the old days, slammed doors were often the norm rather than the exception for insurance agents. These days, nobody has to put up with that kind of cold treatment. There are certainly new ways of doing old things, and you use technology to your advantage, to boot. Warming Friends Of Friends Nobody will ever buy from you if people don’t like you, or even trust, you. The great thing about warm markets is that the trust factor is already there, that is, unless if you’ve habitually ripped them off. They will also trust you enough to refer some of their own friends to you, although they won’t necessarily volunteer their references to you – you have to ask it from them. Do Your Research Don’t be lazy about finding out if your prospect would need the product, if he or she can afford it, or both – he or she needs it and can afford it. Talking to someone who needs the product and can afford it invariably pares down your work to just making your prospect believe how good your product is. Essentially, you need to market your products in a way that would strike a chord with your prospects at the emotional level, whether that be of love, fear or greed. People buy products because of emotional factors and rationalize their purchase AFTER the fact of buying. Sign Up With Insurance Leads Sites There are many insurance leads websites looking for insurance agents who can work on their pre-qualified leads. Some sites will even set you up for an appointment with a client for signing an insurance plan, essentially what you have to do is just to sell new products to an old customer. There are many insurance agents who quit the business after just a few years. But you should know that insurance agents earn more than people who work 9 to 5 jobs.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in 2006, insurance agents earned an average of $58,450 while the average American family earned only $48,201.

Lose up to seventy five to eighty percent of their body weight with obesity surgery
As a result of Gastric Bypass Surgery the average patient can expect to lose up to seventy five to eighty percent of their body weight. This weight loss is very rapid in the first year which usually results in the seventy five percent weight loss initally. If a patient experiences no health complications and continues with the plan prescribed by their doctor they should have continued weight loss up to ninety percent at the five year mark depending on their presurgery weight and body type, which is a dramatic amount of weight loss. Due to this rapid weight loss patients can often expect to experience a lessening of their health problems that were related to obesity. Studies have shown improvement of sleep apnea, asthma, joint pain, arthritis, acid reflux, shortness of breath and lowers the chances of heart disease, lowers blood pressure, and has even shown that type-two diabetics may no longer need their medication. In a study of five hundred patients, ninety six percent experienced an improvement in one or more of their health conditions. Of course there are risks associated with obesity surgery. One in every three hundred gastric bypass patients dies post-operatively. This can often be from a variety of complications. This surgery is performed on patients with a high risk of complications from surgery, due to their obesity. The obesity surgery patient would have a higher risk of complications from any surgery compared to those healthier patients. As such it should only be done as a last resort. After surgery you are at a higher risk of infection, (one patient took steps to prevent infection by putting up signs asking people to please wash their hands before touching him) which can set in around the staples on your stomach and on the incision where the doctor entered or you could develop blood poisoning.

Circadian rhythm disorders quality sleep and overall health
Adequate sleep is essential to one's overall health. The body needs sleep to rest both the mind and body and restore energy. Sleep is also the time where the body repairs itself—through sleep, the cells and tissues that has been damaged repairs it self. In addition to these health benefits, the body boosts and builds up the immune system through sleep. The immune system may experience breakdown and result to different ailments that would require medication and extended recovery times. Medical studies show that sleep seems to help recharge the immune system. However, there are many factors that may hinder individuals to have adequate sleep and therefore further hamper health developments. Disruptions on one's circadian rhythm is one factor that may hinder quality of sleep. Circadian Rhythm Disorders (CRD) are disruptions in a person's circadian rhythm—a name given to the human body's internal body clock. This body clock regulates the 24-hour cycle of biological processes in animals and plants. The circadian “clock” in humans is located in the brain and are significant in determining one's sleeping patterns. Disruptions of the circadian rhythm may result in getting poor and insufficient sleep. One disruption in natural sleep conditions is night work or non-standard shifts. Working in the evening require a delay in the body's sleeping time of as much as three to 12 hours. Because the human body is programmed to sleep at night, changing one's sleeping time will not automatically produce a change in body temperature or other functions needed like body coordination and immune responses. Another factor that may disrupt sleep and hamper one's sleeping patterns is a condition called jet lag. It a condition that is marked by fatigue, insomnia, and irritability that is caused by changing time zones when traveling by air. When travelers pass from one time zone to another, they may suffer from disrupted circadian rhythms. This may cause the traveler's circadian clock to be mixed up with a new external environment. People who experience jet lag may have difficulties in maintaining their regular sleep-awake pattern in their new location. This happens because external stimuli like sunlight and location programs and dictates a new pattern. Although generally linked to sleep pattern of human beings, the circadian rhythm also has a direct influence on one's blood pressure, and the body's production of hormones and neurotransmitters. It works together with these internal factors to tell the body of several things like sleeping time and wake up time. These factors is warning that such disruptions in one's circadian rhythms should never be taken for granted. Because modern technology and medicine CRD can be treated based on the kind of disorder that is present. Treatments vary depending on the demands of lifestyles of certain individuals. Therapies are usually combined with sleep hygiene techniques to promote proper sleep from CRD. Chronotherapy and bright light therapy are two methods that are used to treat this disorder. Chronotherapy is a behavioral technique where one's bedtime is gradually and systematically adjusted until a specific bedtime is achieved. Bright light therapy on the other hand is designed to reset an individual's circadian rhythm to a desired pattern. When properly utilized, these therapies may produce essential results in eliminating CRD and improve one's quality of sleep.

How faith can remove anxieties and move mountains
Many church-going teenagers and young adults share a common predicament: the difficulty of sharing their faith. Most of these budding evangelists and missionaries say that they have a “fire within” that could not be contained. Yet, at the same time, they find themselves weighed down by self-doubt and apprehensions. While their faith pushes them to open up and reach out to other people to share their beliefs, these young “sharers of the Word” become discouraged buy their own lack of confidence in their abilities or “gifts.” Being unsure of whether they are fit to do the task, they shy away and tell themselves that they are simply incapable of the enormous responsibility given by their church. You now have come face-to-face with the realities of spiritual conviction. Your body suffers from nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, and chest pain --- all of which are signals that something is not right in terms of your physical and emotional health. Dizziness, lack of appetite, restlessness --- these are only some of the distressful manifestations or anxiety symptoms felt by young missionaries and aspiring men and women of the cloth. Medical studies describe anxiety attacks as psychological responses to stress which can vary from person to person. These overwhelming emotions of fear, worry and apprehension can really affect the normal activities of soldiers – Christian soldiers, that is. Even with all their courage and bravado, they still see find it hard to cope with their anxiety attacks. Without exception, new Christians experience a roller coaster of emotions as they follow the Great Commission. As new believers without experience in the “battlefield of faith”, the temptation to flee from the very source of their anxiety becomes a daily struggle. Instead of proclaiming their faith the way they were trained in summer camp or in the seminary, many young missionaries backtrack and postpone their task to share their faith with other people. Psychiatrists call this the “fight or flight” syndrome. Sharing one's faith is always an arduous task, especially for the first timer. Even the ancient scriptures tells the story of how the prophet Abraham, the great patriarch of faith also faced anxiety. Abram, later renamed as Abraham, was a rich merchant in Ur (which is in present-day Iraq) who had all the luxuries of life. But one day, God spoke to him and gave him the command to travel to a foreign land. Abraham, like any other mortal being, experienced anxiety and stress as he tried to obey God. However, despite the anxiety symptoms he had to face everyday, he still followed God and took his “journey of faith.” Later, he became the “Father of all Nations” and started a new nation that eventually occupied the land of Canaan. That nation was Israel. The lesson behind the remarkable life of Abraham is that one is truly capable of defeating anxiety and the overwhelming sense of duty if his life is dedicated in service to a Higher Power. That very same Higher Power would help even the most timid of men to become brave and secure in the promises given them by the Supreme Being. While it is true that not everybody can attain the same spiritual heights and physical longevity that was achieved by Abraham. But all can learn from how the man called “The Friend of God” was able to overcome stress and anxiety. His faith was tested in the fire. As a result, his convictions grew stronger, his faith was refined, and his life was totally renewed. By accepting challenges and the anxieties that naturally come as part of life, a person can exercise his faith and find a more blessed future with God.

The foods you eat determine your health
Somewhere caught up in your busy lifestyle, between your Palm Pilot or Blackberry, day planner, lap top, the kids sports, piano lessons, traffic, and household duties, being healthy got deleted from your agenda. Instead of planning and taking time to sit down to eat, you’re on the go, driving through fast food franchises eating combo meals, forgetting to eat lean protein, fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, the quick and easy foods are loaded with carbohydrates, sodium, sugar and fats. Healthy eating will help you stay healthy. Here are a couple of tips for healthy eating so you don’t ignore your healthy: 1. Don’t skip breakfast. Eating in the morning will jump-start your metabolism, giving you energy to get you through the morning. Protein and carbohydrate in the morning is a great breakfast. Breakfast should be your largest meal for the day. 2. Reduce your intake of caffeinated and carbonated beverages. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant and is addictive. Caffeine will make you hungry. Carbonation prevents your body from absorbing nutrients. Both caffeine and carbonation will cause your body to be in a more acidic state. The best pH for your balance is more alkaline or slightly over 7.0 which is half way between total acidic and alkalinity. 3. Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. I personally drink distilled water and avoid tap water at all costs. Filtered, purified, ionized and reverse osmosis water is also good. Think of water as cleansing the toxins out of your body. Water is water and water is not ice tea, coffee, Crystal light. 4. Eat your fruits and vegetables daily. A diet rich in dark green, orange, red and yellow choices are best. Your body likes variety which comes in all colors. Variety gives your body a greater amount of nutrients. The most overlooked benefit of eating raw vegetables in your diet is the benefits of the enzyme activity in raw vegetables. Eat at least 3 portions of raw vegetables a day. 5. Eat whole-grain products. Your best sources are whole-grain breads, cereals, rice and pasta. Stay away from enriched and white flour products. Read the label. Processed foods are not whole-grains. All the healthy nutrients have been stripped away from processed foods. 6. Cut the “bad” (saturated) fats and increase the “good” (unsaturated) fats. The bad fats include coconut and palm oil, butter, full-fat dairy products and animal fat. Eat the good fats that include olive, canola and corn oils. Read the label. Anything fat which is solid at room temperature is best to avoid. 7. Drink alcohol in moderation if at all. Alcohol has wasted calories and if consumed on a regular basis, adds unwanted pounds. Alcohol also increases your blood sugar levels which is unhealthy for your metabolism. Just try and make one change a week. Or continue to work on one of these tips until it becomes a part of your healthy lifestyle. Healthy eating takes some planning. It’s very difficult to eat healthy on the fly. Spend some time and plan your meals. It’s well worth the rewards. You are what you eat. If you are eating unhealthy, don’t expect to stay healthy for long. I believe it’s easier to stay healthy than to try to get healthy once your sick. With only a few simple changes, you can make a big difference in your daily eating habits. Use your mind – if you think healthy, you will eat healthy. Think of foods as fuel for your body. Eating healthy foods will produce a healthy body. Important information for soma
When thinking of what to take when there is pain and discomfort from previous injuries? Look no further. Soma is a prescription medication used for treating pain and discomfort from injuries in the muscles. When sprains, sprains, and spasms occur, Soma helps. This medication is usually used together with physical therapy, rest, and other treatments (like anti-inflammatory medications), and not to be taken by itself. Also known as Carisoprodol, this medication is called a centrally acting muscle relaxant, and works on the body's nerves to relieve pain around the muscle area. This medication may also relieve pain by relaxing or calming one's nervous system. Take Soma as directed by your physician. This is to be taken orally with or without food, around four times a day or as prescribed by your physician. Similar to any other medications, the dosage for Soma is based on one's current medical condition and his/her response to treatment. Physicians only direct a patient in taking this medication for their current injury, and saving this drug for future use is a strict NO. Always follow your doctor's directions on when to reduce the dose, taking it less often, or to fully stop the medication. Though this might occur in very rare instances, this medication can result in abnormal drug-seeking behavior, meaning that it can be habit forming or addictive. Never increase the prescribed dose, and do not take it frequently or use for a longer time than needed. By following the physicians' advice on when to stop the medication, this will help in lessening the chances of becoming addicted. When using Soma, certain side effects can occur, but on rare cases only. This includes dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, unusual fast heartbeat, low blood pressure, and face flushing. If in case any of these effects become serious or if it persists call your physician immediately. Note that this medication has been prescribed by your physician only because he or she has judged that Soma may benefit you more than the risk of side effects. Patients who are using this medication do not have any serious side effects, so asking your physician more about this medication can truly help. There are times when Soma may cause a rare but often serious reaction that usually happens within minutes or hours during your first dose. If an idiosyncratic reaction occurs, seek immediate medical attention. Stop taking Soma when you experience extreme weakness, shaky or unsteady movements, inability to move either arms of feet, joint pain, vision changes, widened pupils, mood/mental changes such as agitation, restlessness, confusion, or unexplained mood swings. Serious allergic reaction when taking Soma includes rashes, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, and trouble breathing. In case this happens, ask for medical help. All side effects stated here may not be complete, so if anything questionable happens during the use of Soma, contact your physician immediately. Taking Soma can be easy, only if one takes this medication seriously and use it properly. Addiction can be possible if you take Soma more than prescribed by your physician. Be reminded also of its side effects, and try to weigh in what Soma can do for you, against the risk that it might bring.
Healthy eating
Healthy eating is difficult to achieve because we have so many health factors to consider and food choices to make. We know antioxidants are good for us so we want to eat lots of colorful fruits and vegetables because they contain phytochemicals like carotenoids and flavonoids which neutralize the free radicals that cause the age-related degenerative diseases. We know that we may not get all the antioxidants that we need in our food so we take supplements to ensure an adequate supply of antioxidants. But what about the actual food we eat. One of the major problems with our modern diet is that the food we eat is a tasty combination of saturated fats and highly processed and quickly digested carbohydrates. However in the last several years, people have become so concerned about fats in their diet that they have substituted carbohydrates and avoided even the good unsaturated fats in lean meat, olive oil and other plant oils. Now everybody seems to be eating a medium - to high-carbohydrate diet without giving proper attention to the type of carbs that they eat. Not all carbohydrates behave the same in our bodies. We have been told for years to avoid simple carbs like honey and white bread and eat complex carbohydrates that our body doesn’t digest and turn to glucose as quickly. However determining whether a food containing carbohydrates is absorbed and raises our blood sugar quickly or slowly is not at all intuitive. Scientists have done a lot of rigorous testing over the past several years and have found that white bread and baked potatoes raise our blood sugar level much faster than honey, jams and chocolate bars. These scientists developed a numerical index called the Glycemic Index or GI to compare the ability of different carbohydrate containing foods to raise the body’s blood sugar levels – or in other words the speed of conversion to glucose. GI values are determined by feeding human subjects who have fasted overnight a fixed amount of the food and then measuring their blood glucose levels at fixed intervals of time. Pure glucose is set at 100 and then other foods are compared to this profile. Testing is time consuming and the tests have to be averaged for a number of individuals. However these studies have yielded some surprising results such as the fact that the starches in rice, bread, potatoes and many types of cereals were absorbed and raised blood sugars very quickly but the sugars in fruit, candy, chocolate and ice cream did not result in prolonged rises in blood sugars. In other words many of the starchy foods had a much higher Glycemic Index than many of the sugary foods. Needless to say these results seem counter intuitive and have caused a lot of controversy in the food industry. The rate of absorption is very dependant on how the carbs are bound up with the food fiber and the particle size. For example less gelatinized products like al dente spaghetti and oatmeal have lower GI values and stone ground flours have lower GI values than finely ground flours. The fibrous coat surrounding beans and seeds stop enzymes from getting at the starchy carbs inside and will slow the digestion of grainy breads, legumes and barley. The acidity of foods also slows down digestion and vinegar, lemon juice, pickles and sourdough bread will result in lower GI meal values. The Glycemic Index is important not only to diabetics but also to non-diabetics because we need to know what foods will keep our blood sugars on an even keel and not raise them too high and then have them plummet down again causing hunger. The slow digestion of low GI foods and the gradual rise and fall in blood-glucose response helps people with diabetes control their blood sugar levels and increase their sensitivity to insulin. Low GI foods will help healthy people delay hunger pangs and promote weight loss in overweight individuals. In addition low GI carbohydrates can reduce blood cholesterol levels and also reduce our risk of heart disease. High blood glucose spikes can result in oxidative stress leading to the formation of plaque that can cause atherosclerosis and even blood clots. So keeping our blood sugar levels fairly level and low seems like what we should be trying to achieve through healthy eating. How do we go about achieving this? The first step is to look at what carbohydrates we are consuming and the GI levels of the meals that we are eating. Then we should try and ensure we have at least one low GI food in each meal to keep the overall meal GI close to 50. Most fats and proteins have no effect on the GI level of our meal because they don’t contain carbs. However watch out for saturated fats and too many calories. Let’s look at some meals and see what substitutions we could make. The GI values are shown in brackets. Breakfast Cut back on Corn Flakes (92), Rice Krispies (82) and substitute All-Bran (32) or switch to a cereal based on oats, barley or bran. Stop eating white bagels (72), white bread (70) or whole-wheat bread (77) and switch to pumpernickel (50) or sourdough (55). Fruits are mostly low GI foods and surprisingly orange juice (46) is very good. Lunch and Dinner Eat your colored vegetables and make your salad dressings with olive oil and vinegar. Avoid parsnips (97) and substitute pastas like al dente white spaghetti (38), linguini (46) or macaroni (47) for Instant white rice (87) and potatoes – baked (85), red-skin peeled and boiled (88). Except for parsnips and potatoes most vegetables have a low GI value. Additional information on GI values can be found at the University of Sydney website glycemicindex/ or in the “The New Glucose Revolution: Shopper’s Guide to GI Values 2006.
Swimming pools demand proper attention
Your pools are places for pleasure and leisure, but sometimes they become virtual pools of sorrow. You need to be very careful of the unpleasant things often happening in your pools. These unpleasant incidents are rather agonizing when they happen due to your negligence and carelessness. The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s report articulates that nearly 50,000 persons had hospital emergency treatment, last year (2006) in accidents, linked with some of the nation’s four million swimming pools. According to the National Swimming Pool Institute estimation, the total number of residential in-ground pools throughout the United States is approximately one million, whereas aboveground pools are estimated at three million. The Institute also states that there are more than 340,250 in-ground pools in motels, apartments, hotels, parks, apartments, and public places such as clubs, educational institutions and camps. The figures obtained from the Injury Commission reveal that yearly, 39,450 persons get emergency room care for the treatment of injuries relating below-ground pools, and approximately 10,000 get treatment for accidental injuries related above-ground pools. Out of which, 70 % injuries are linked with persons between 19 and below, and nearly twice as many boys as girls are hurt. The majority of these injuries occur due falling on slippery ways, diving boards, ladders and decks. The other major causes of severe injuries are diving and jumping into shallow water. That’s why supervision is the key when it comes to swimming pool security. However, security management along with a range of barriers and safety plans such as fencing pool areas, locking pool gates, latching doors, proper pool covering, etc. helps in preventing a great deal of pool mishaps. Here are some useful tips for your protected and pleasurable swimming pool season. The most important step is, never leave your children alone in or near your pools, even for a while. You should appoint guards to watch out all swimming pool activities. You should always keep saving tools and telephones nearby the pool. This can help saving your drowning children or someone else in pools. You should consider putting up fences to separate your houses from your pools. In order to prevent accidents, don’t let the people drinking alcohol to use pools. You must keep all the electrical appliances such as TVs, radios, etc away from your pool or wet surfaces. You should keep your children away from pool filters, as their suction power can harm them. You must cover your pools when they’re not in use; this’ll also help you avoiding mishaps. Don’t allow un-experienced persons or aged to swim. Avoid swimming if you are feeling tired. You must follow proper safety rules for proper security. In most pool supply stores, you can find a large assortment of pool toys. These include swim rings, beach balls, basketball hoops and volleyball nets. If your kids are playing water games, you need to keep a close eye on them. Remember that the competitiveness in a swimming pool can be dangerous or even deadly. There are also pool fixtures including deep end diving boards and pool slides. You must pay proper attentions to those using these pool accessories. Young or non-experienced people are the most vulnerable to the tragic mishaps due to these pool accessories. According to reports, each year, many kids die from drowning. The majority of drowning deaths happen in residential swimming pools. Isn’t it shocking! It’s rather! This fact sounds that there’s compelling need that you people should learn the significance of pool safety. Not only learn, but you should also bring it to action.

Learning to listen to your body
One of the most important ways for you to become a healthy person is to learn to listenclosely to what your body tells you, to recognize what it needs and desires in order to feel fit and comfortable. When you listen long and hard enough to your body, you will begin to differentiate sensations and feelings. Can you feel any tension in your neck? Are your knees locked or at ease? Can you feel all 10 toes on the ground? Is your breath long and smooth or short and fast? Reality is, most of us are focused on our external environment most of the time. We use our minds so much to accomplish and discriminate that we often lose awareness of the body our mind inhabits. Some of us even seem to have “disinherited” our bodies for various reasons, such as harsh judgments about our physical condition, aches and pains, chronic disease, abuse or simple neglect. Regardless of your particular circumstances, you know you inhabit a body. However, can you feel your body right now? Can you compassionately observe your own body without judgment, simply being aware and present to what is going on right now? Here are a few tips on how to get started. Build body awareness You can begin right now by observing your body by feeling your breath coming in through your nose and flowing down into your lungs. Allow your awareness to stay focused in your chest area, appreciating your capacity to breathe without even thinking about it. Your mind may wander off. If it does, simply bring it back to feeling the breath with patience and no harsh judgment about yourself. You can also practice awareness of your body while walking, golfing or riding a bike — infact, in most waking activities. Allow your mind to focus on the feelings and sensations you are experiencing in your body. Notice how often your attention gets pulled away from your body by thoughts of the past or the future. This is normal, so be patient and bring your focus back to your body. Over time, the practice of continual partial awareness of your body will become easier and second nature. However, until it does, I don’t recommend trying this practice while driving a vehicle. If you attend a yoga class, choose to be present, feeling the posture from the inside out. What sensations do you feel? What muscles are tightened? Which are stretching? Are you trying to place your body in a perfect form or are you allowing your body to feel its way naturally into the posture with the guidance of an expert teacher? You should strive to feel the optimum place for your body to experience the strengthening, stretching or balance of the asana. Benefits of awareness Once you have become proficient at being more “in” your body during the day, what benefits can you expect from your practice? Here are just a few: Awareness of stress. You will feel the signs of stress in your body when they begin, such as shortness of breath, muscle tightening, butterflies in your stomach, clenched jaw and more. Feeling these sensations in your body will allow you the choice to do relaxation techniques when you need it rather than developing unconscious chronic, stress patterns. Notice posture. Through awareness, you can begin to notice conditioned patterns ofholding or moving your body, such as leaning your upper body forward, crossing one leg over the other, standing with weight unevenly distributed and more. Noticing these patterns will help you begin to change the patterns and allow for healthier choices that can lead to better low back health and deeper more effective breathing patterns. Both can increase energy and alertness. Chronic weak spots. Let’s say you have a weak low back. Bringing awareness to that area of your body will enable you to be more in tune with sensations in your low back. You will notice when the low back begins to feel weak and take the appropriate action before it becomes painful. Proprioception. This is the ability to sense the position, location and movement of your body through the nervous system and balance regulation of the inner ear. Bodily awareness of where you are “in space” can help you avoid accidental falls or injury and can improve sports performance. Awareness of symptoms. You might feel symptoms of illness more quickly if you deepen awareness of your bodily sensations. For example, you might feel a slight sore throat and treat this quickly rather than coming down with a full-blown cold. You will also be able to describe symptoms to your doctor more fully and in greater detail, allowing the doctor to have a clearer picture of what you are experiencing. Truly occupy your system and you will find original horizons within. It is valuable the attempt because it is the alone system you have to have this fantastic travel of living.
